New Exhibition at UrFU Center of Modern Culture

Artworks of contemporary artists "Pain Spots" and "Ideas of Plasticity"

Two new exhibitions were opened in the Center of Modern Culture of the department of Arts and Social Sciences. The expositions features artworks of Piotr and Ludmila Klimenko, whose creative development took place in the post-perestroika era of the 1990s.

The visual rethinking of the hopes and disappointments of those difficult years is embodied in the works of Piotr Klimenko, who has already passed away. His exposition "Pain spots" includes lithographs and gouaches, created in an expressive manner, far from realism. The exposition of Ludmila Klimenko has an opposite mood. Her "Ideas of Plasticity" reflects the author's desire to convey the elusive process of birth of a sign - alphabetic, musical or some other.

Piotr Klimenko's exhibition "Pain Spot" presents the graphics of the 90s, showing a fusion of genres and techniques. Still life, landscape, portrait become only a frame for the expression of lines and colors. The works demonstrate high performance in monochrome lithography and multi-colored gouache.

The exhibition of Lyudmila Klimenko "Ideas od Plasticity" (media library) shows the unique author's technique of manual paper casting. The image in white invoice sheets appears in spontaneous and difficultly controlled transformations of the material. A white sheet of hand-casting paper reveals in a variety of voluminous, sign and tonal variations.
