Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering: UrFU is in Top List of Prestigious World Ranking

The University has been ranked in Broad Subject Areas: Arts & Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences & Management.

Ural Federal University became the only university in the Urals represented in three Brad Subject Areas and three Subjects in the new QS World University Rankings by Subject. The results of the ranking were published yesterday.

“It’s the first time we have been ranked in Broad Subject Areas – Arts & Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences & Management”, says UrFU’s Rector Victor Koksharov. “For the third year in a row, we are keeping our positions in mathematics, and, for the second year, in physics. Moreover, we’ve been ranked in Mechanical Engineering for the first time”.

Experts also note the growth of the University’s reputation among employers: this indicator has increased almost in every subject where UrFU is ranked; especially in Mathematics (position 251-300).

UrFU is in the group 351-400 in Mechanical Engineering, 401-450 in Physics and Arts & Humanities, 451-500 in Social Sciences and Management.

“It is really an honor to find our position in the Ranking by Subject, especially for a comprehensive federal university, which appeared not so long ago as a result of two big educational institutions merging”, says the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Charity Fund for Education Support “Kapitany” Oleg Alekseev. UrFU is gradually improving its managerial, research and teaching practices, cooperating with industries, meeting the needs of its students. The fact that the three Subject Areas has been the indigenous strengths of the Urals doesn’t belittle the success in any way”.
