38 student initiatives will receive grant support

The University summed up the results of youth projects` competition

The results of two large-scale competitions of student projects: the grant competition of UrFU and Federal contest of Rosmolodezh projects for individuals became known in February. In total, student initiatives were financed for more than five million rubles. Six applications received support from Rosmolodezh for 100 to 300 thousand rubles; another 4.4 million rubles were allocated for 32 projects-winners of the internal competition of the University.

Thanks to the competition, two initiatives of the student team “UrFU Racing”: the creation of a computer center for scientific work and a YouTube-channel about the projects of the club will be realized in 2018.

‘At the computer center, we will develop drifting car based on Lada Vesta. This process requires specialized technology customized for CAD and CAE-calculations. Plus, with such equipment we will be able to develop a new bolide Formula SAE and will increase the number of original parts by 85%,’ said the head of “UrFU Racing” Mikhail Voronnikov.

46 applications were submitted by students for the internal grant competition of Ural Federal University. Among them were volunteering programs, tourist gatherings, intellectual club and University karting championship.

‘This year the total budget of the grant competition has increased from 2 million two 4.4 million rubles, the level of drafting of the projects has increased as well. Therefore, a larger number of student organizations were able to apply for funding,’ said the director of the Leadership Development Center Ekaterina Vityuk.

According to Vityuk, students began to offer more significant projects for the whole university, including social ones. The organizers noted that they are ready to support all the unique and breakthrough projects.
