UrFU student presented a report at the Arctic Forum

Nadezhda Kolegova won a grant of the Russian Geographical Society and went to Norway

The student of UrFU Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Youth Policy, Nadezhda Kolegova won a grant of the Russian Geographical Society and Norway Research Company  “Aquaplan-Niva” for participation in the first Arctic Student Forum "Arctic Frontiers - 2016", which took place in the city of Tromsø (Norway) on January 25-29, 2016. She presented the project “Interactions of indigenous people and of Arctic biota in conditions of industrial development at Extreme North regions. Geographic Information System for the monitoring of human impact on the biosphere of the Arctic zone.”

“I have seen the announcement of the competition at Students’ exchange page in the social network VK, and I would like to thank administrators of the page for it!” – says Nadezhda Kolegova. – As a result, I became one of 10 winners, who received grants for participation in the forum. The grant covered transport, accommodation and registration expenses. It was my first and successful application for grant, I plan to continue such practice and apply for more grants.”

At the conference, Nadezhda told about the interactions of indigenous people and of Arctic biota.

 “Nadezhda is a very active person. She is an excellent student, she participate in various scientific projects, she is involved in publication activity, and she studies several foreign languages: English, Arabic, Turkish!” – says Natalia Malygina, an employee of the Department of Service and Tourism, UrFU Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Youth Policy. – At the forum she was one of the few undergraduate students, the greater part of the participants were undergraduate students, who presented their Master theses, but not the projects created especially for the forum.”
