UrFU continues to increase its rates in quantity of publications

On the Day of Russian Science, Vladimir Kruzhaev tells us about the achievements of the Urals’ leading university in the scientific field

Traditionally, before the Day of Russian Science, Vladimir Kruzhaev, UrFU Vice-Rector for Science, gave a detailed interview to the “Ural Federal” («Уральский Федеральный») newspaper. He summarized the scientific activity of the university staff in the previous year and explained what other challenges our scientists are going to face in 2016.

One of the key achievements of 2015 was a significant increase in the quantity of the University scientists’ publications in foreign titles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases. Thus, in comparison with 2014 there has been a 35 to 40% increase, making a total of approximately 1700 publications.

 “Traditionally, the leaders in terms of the quantity of publications are the Institute of Natural Sciences (301 articles) and the Institute of Physics and Technology (291 articles)”, says Mr. Kruzhaev. “The indices are growing. In particular, I’d like to point out the Institute of Humanities and Arts, the Graduate School of Economics and Management, the Institute of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship, and the Institute of Social and Political Sciences–together they gave us more than 170 publications during the year, which is a great result: three years before the number was only 22. We are also raising the quantity of publications rapidly in the spheres of material science, IT, history–the very directions we need to be showing growth in”.
