Minister of Education and Science has visited Ural Federal University

During his visit Dmitry Livanov not only saw the technical base of UrFU, but also learnt about humanitarian achievements of the university

The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Livanov arrived to Ekaterinburg in order to attend the opening of the Model Factory of UrFU, OMZ and the company "McKinsey", which was held on February 16. The minister also visited Ural Federal University, held a series of meetings, met with UrFU students and visited several scientific and education centers and engineering complexes of the university.

The employees and students of the university organized a university tour, which Included Student Center of High Technology, the Laboratory of Modern Telecommunication Systems, the Center for High Technology of Machine Building, Regional Engineering Center, Anechoic Chamber, as well as the Laboratory of Primary Sources Research of the Institute of Humanities and Arts. Professor Grokhovsky gave Dmitry Livanov a present, a fragment of the Chelyabinsk meteorite that fell to Earth three years ago on the same day, when the Minister was born.

During a meeting with the students and young scientists of UrFU, the Minister answered the questions about the development of the leading Russian universities, the role of open education in the modern world, international students, the support of young scientists and the importance of the publication of articles in international scientific journals. He also supported the initiative of the students to follow the example of ITMO and create a student project office 5-100.

According to Dmitry Livanov, the involvement of students in the implementation of the universities transformation is very important. The changes that are taking place at universities participating in the program 5-100, are made not only for the employees, academic staff or scientists of the universities, but for students in the first place.
