Department of Russian literature of XX and XXI centuries chose the Hungarian writer Péter Nádas

The academic staff of of the Department of Russian literature of XX and XXI centuries, Faculty of Philology, suggested the Hungarian novelist Péter Nádas as a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature 2016.

"We suggest nominees for the Nobel Prize for ten years, - says the Head of the Department of Russian literature of XX and XXI centuries, Leonid Bykov. - In December, at the final meeting of the department among other issues we discussed the nominee's candidacy. The works of Péter Nádas expresses the sociality in exclusively homoeopathic way. Its role is very important, but on the first plan. There is a way the human soul perceives both social and intimate experiences.” 

We would like to remind that in 2014 the members of the department chose Belarusian writer and journalist Svetlana Aleksievich as a nominee for the Nobel Prize. In 2015, she became a laureate. Svetlana Aleksievich was the first Russian-writing author, after Brodsky, who had received the award in the past 29 years. 

"When we consider the candidate, we take into account not only aesthetic, artistic consistency of the book, because the number of good books written every year is not so little, - says Leonid Bykov. - The important thing is that the book is on the one hand is not like any other, on the other hand, it expresses very indicative trends of the current spiritual life. "
