Ural scientists develop new materials in collaboration with the colleagues from the BRICS countries

The project of establishment of BRICS Network Centre of Materials and Nanotechnology has been approved by authorities

Ural Federal University, one of the leading universities in the field of material science, proposed the creation of BRICS Network Center of Materials Science and Nanotechnology.

UrFU initiative to establish an organized network scientific structure was supported by the governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, a member of UrFU Supervisory Board, Evgeny Kuyvashev, and the Ministry of Education of Russia and the Russian presidential administration.

In fact, the center will represent the network of centers of universities and research organizations, whose activities will be provided by five local offices. Russian office will be located in Ekaterinburg.

"UrFU is a recognized leader in the field of material science, - underlined the head of UrFU Supervisory Board Dmitry Pumpyanskiy. - According to scientific materials, indexed in international database Scopus, we are on the second place in the country after Moscow State University, and recently the research by Thomson Reuters has identified five priority areas of material science for the university, as well as partners: Chinese and Indian universities. "

According to UrFU Vice-Rector for Science Vladimir Kruzhaev, cooperation involves a large conference held annually in one of the five countries participating of BRICS and the creation of register of centers for collective use. It will help scientists from Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa claim the victory in grant competitions with joint projects.

Ural Federal University concentrates education and research in Material Science in the Institute of Natural Sciences, Institute of Physics and Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology and the Institute of Materials Science and Metallurgy.
