By starting construction of the campus, UrFU also starts the development of innovations in the Ural University Technopolis

The construstion of the new university campus, which will be a part of the Ural University Technopolis, starts in 2015. The first constructed buildings will be dormitories. Now, according to the rector of Ural Federal University, Victor Koksharov, the basic infrastructure issues are being discussed with the developer. After the construction of dormitories, the Sverdlovsk Oblast government plans to add 300 acres for university campus housing and an industrial park to the 50 hectares of the technopark "Universitetsky",

The construction of “Universitetsky” is in full swing. This week it was visited by the Chairman of the Sverdlovsk region Government, Denis Pasler; Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Rashid Ismailov; UrFU Rector, Victor Koksharov; Director of “UralEnergoStroyComplex”, Igor Plaksin; and deputy chairmans of the regional government, ministers and the heads of the largest infrastructure companies. During the meeting, they discussed the prospects of attracting residents and development of innovative technologies within the complex.

"UrFU is ready to bring 15 residents to the technopark, including the Regional Engineering Center of Laser and Addition Technologies, which is developed by the university with the support of the regional government, - said the rector Victor Koksharov. - I can say that the project of technopolis "Universitetsky" is unique for Russia: we will gather innovative institutions of UrFU, scientific developments and modern production in one place.”

Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Rashid Ismailov, underlined Ministry's interest in the direction of IT-technologies, in attracting both Russian and leading foreign companies to Technopolis.

According to the Regional Prime Minister said that the pace of work increased significantly. The builder almost overlooked the planned dates, providing the required quality of construction. The installation internal networks will be finished in October and in December the object will be fully completed. Accordinf to the report of Igor Plaksin, the director of  “UralEnergoStroyComplex”, the only issue, which is still requiring consideration, is a lag from the production of stained glass designs of the central building of industrial park.
