UrFU has significantly improved position in the international ranking

According to the result of research conducted by the British rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds. QS University Rankings was published on September 16, there are 8,7 students for one lecturer in Ural Federal University, it indicates the high quality of education at the university.

"The indicator of academic staff internationalization of significantly increased - up to 2% of the total number of lecturers - says UrFU Rector, Victor Koksharov. - The growth of this indicator is the most visible - 257%. The indicator of internationalization of students is no less important from the point of view of the international development of the university; it has increased from 2.7% to 3.2% relative to the total number of students".

A large share in the overall ranking has an index of the cited publication. In this position, UrFU has grown by 18%. This indicator is calculated for the period of five years, and in fact this period includes only one year of the Global Competitiveness Enhancement Program, which was launched by the Ministry of Education in 2013.

"It should also be taken into consideration that a large part of UrFU publications is in the subject area "Material Science", in which maximum citation index is reached after 5 years", - adds the rector of the university.

The number of publications in Scopus has grown significantly, from 692 to 970 publications. This indicator does not directly affect the ranking, but its dynamics effects the growth of citations in the future.

One of the most difficult to achieve indicator is the reputation of the university in the academic environment. The reputation also rose from 16.7 to 18.8 points; the growth rate is 113%. This indicator has the greatest impact on the overall assessment of the university.

Thus, Ural Federal University entered in the group of 551-600, there is one more Federal university in this group - Kazan Federal University.

We would like to remind that the authors use six criteria for evaluation: credibility in the academic environment, the ratio of academic staff members to the number of students, the reputation among employers, the citation index, the share of foreign teachers and students.

 

The full version of the ranking included 863 educational institutions, including 21 Russian universities, the number of Russian universities had grown by 3 more universities in comparison with the last year.
