UrFU team became a champion in quarterfinals of the programming championship

11 universities entered semifinals of the programming championship

Teams from eleven universities of the Greater Urals entered semifinals of the programming championship, which will be held in December this year.

Last week, Ural Federal University and Izhevsk State Technical University hosted quarterfinals of the programming championship. The winner of this stage became a team of UrFU Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science. The name of the team is “Bear Companions”, there 3 members in it: Borozdin Cyril, Ilya Kuchumov and Alexei Kungurtsev.

The number of teams hit the record this year: 124 teams, sixty of which were from different UrFU institutes. In addition, the semifinals’ quota was increased: the right to participate in the semifinals got twenty teams instead of sixteen. This change was made due to the fact that last year two teams from UrFU entered the list of the best teams of semifinals, also this year UrFU was a co-organizer, and had right to send four teams instead of two.

We would like to mention that another integral part of the ACM took place during the quarterfinals: the volunteers received well-deserved awards for their participation in the ACM ICPC WF 2014, which took place in Ekaterinburg this summer.
