UrFU conducted scientific conference in France

Ural historians discussed Russian history of innovations with their foreign colleagues at the international conference in Lyon

A new milestone in the development of international scientific cooperation was the conference "Russian elites and European innovations, standards and models: from the reign of Peter the Great to 1914", which took place in Lyon, France.

The conference gathered together the experts in Russian history from the universities and research institutions of France, Russia, Italy, Switzerland and Belgium.

Along with the conference the exhibition of the same name started in the Diderot city library, which will run until February 15, 2015. Visitors can see a variety of works of Russian authors - from the "Mandate" by Catherine II to the novels of Leo Tolstoy, published in French. The Russian delegation presented the international scientific journal Quaestio Rossica, dedicated to the history and culture of Russia. The magazine is being published by UrFU since 2013.

The conference program was completed on November 7, there was an official closing ceremony in the Chamber of Commerce of Lyon. Director of UrFU Institute of Humanities and Arts Dmitry Bugrov handed the representatives of the Chamber a monograph about daily life in pre-revolutionary Ekaterinburg, written by Olga Yahno (Institute of History and Archaeology, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences). This work was published as a part of the "megagrant".

The conference was organized by Ural Federal University (UFU), University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the École normale supérieure de Lyon, with the support of Diderot library (Lyon) and the Lyon Chamber of Commerce.
