UrFU plans to increase the number of foreign students

Fanny Saada, the representative of the French Embassy of the Russian Federation, has visited the university and discussed the possibility of creating new educational programs in French and English

On April 23, Fanny Saada, the Academic Cooperation Attaché of the French Embassy of the Russian Federation visited Ural Federal University. She met with the Vice-Rector for International Relations Maxim Khomyakov to discuss joint Russian-French educational programs.

"Nowadays we are facing a problem of unbalanced student exchange: the number of Russian students, who go to Europe is much higher than a number of European students coming to us, - says Maxim Khomyakov. - We are committed to attracting foreign students. For them we have grants, exchange programs, courses taught in English, for example, Russian Studies and Political philosophy».

Ural Federal University currently enrolls about 1 200 foreign students. And it is planned to increase this figure to two thousand.

Ural Federal University is one of the leading universities in Russia founded in 1920. UrFU is located in Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Ural region, an economic, industrial, scientific and cultural center of Russia. The university is the project office of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials" designed for solving tasks of "Science" National Project.
