Andrey Kholkin is awarded for his contribution to research of ferroelectrics at nanoscale

Head of the Laboratory of nanoscale ferroelectric materials (NANOFER) of UrFU Institute of Natural Sciences Andrey Kholkin won Ferroelectrics Recognition Award IEEE 2015 "For outstanding contribution to the study of ferroelectrics at nanoscale". Every year committee of ferroelectrics IEEE awards honorary members of the community for their achievements in research in the field of ferroelectrics.

Andrey Kholkin made a significant contribution to the research of lead-free piezoelectric materials, materials with high electromechanical coupling, thin membranes and nanostructures, as well as methods of their research at the nanoscale. These materials are used in memory elements, micromechanical systems, power converters as well as in various devices for biomedical devices.

"All the award recipients are really outstanding people. The researches of these scientists have already become classics, - says the Head of ferroelectrics laboratory of UrFU Institute of Physics and Applied Mathematics Vladimir Shur. - The ceremony took place in Singapore, where I was elected as a member of the Ferroelectrics Standing Committee, and my colleague Andrey Kholkin has been awarded".

IEEE is one of the largest international professional association, which includes more than 40 communities and 400 000 members. The Association annually awards the best professionals, who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of technology, society and engineering professions. Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control Society is one of the divisions of IEEE, which acknowledged the achievements of Andrey Kholkin in 2015.
