Participants of Summer University have visited the Ministry of the Sverdlovsk region

The Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk region delivered his speech on the cooperation opportunities with Russia in the field of business

How often do we have the opportunity to meet with the Minister and ask him our questions? People in such positions as usual are very busy solving tasks and problems on which our well-being depends both in the near and distant future. However, any good manager takes care about the issue - how to ensure continuity in strategic issues solving in the long-term perspective. Generation of current students is precisely those who will pick up the torch when the time comes. Perhaps, that is why the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk region Andrey O. Sobolev was hospitable and circumstantial at the meeting with participants of Summer University «Business starts in Russia» and began his speech with the words: «Despite the fact that I have a prepared speech which is in front of me, I want our meeting to be informal. I would like to listen to your questions and comments».

Before the meeting, the guests visited one of the most outstanding and memorable buildings in Yekaterinburg - the house of Nikolai Sevastyanov. In addition, this building has become one of the symbols of Yekaterinburg, the first meeting of foreign ministers of countries participating in BRICS was held here on May 16, 2008, after which regular meetings at the highest level have been held here on regular basis. The guests visited the colony, historical, blue, fireplace and dance halls. The interior of the Sevastyanov’s house surprised and impressed the foreign students.

The official part started with welcome speech of the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk region A.O. Sobolev.

In his speech, the Minister touched on the most topical issues of the Sverdlovsk region and outlined the common points with potential partners from India and Europe.

It was emphasized that India as a country member of BRICS is one of Russia's leading partners and plays a significant role in the world politics and international relations. The Sverdlovsk region is interested in cooperation with India in the field of energy, mechanical engineering, mining, computer technologies, medicine and health, agriculture, tourism, education and science.

It was explained in-depth about the benefits of the Sverdlovsk region as the most developed industrial region of Russia.

The Minister invited the guests to visit the major industrial exhibition INNOPROM Russia, which will be held from 8 to 11 July in Yekaterinburg. This year, People's Republic acts as a partner-country , and in 2016 the partner country of the International industrial exhibition will be the Republic of India.

Since students from India and France attended this meeting, the Minister considered the issue of cooperation between Russia and the West and especially France, expressing his hope for relations improvement.

The meeting made a very good impression on the participants of Summer University. Thus, the Indian colleagues expressed a desire to cooperate with the Sverdlovsk region in such areas as electronics and rail way service. Students from France even wrote a review about this event: «The visit to the foreign economy ministry could be described as educational, one wouldn't have thought that students would go through an investment meeting, but after the first impression fueled surprise, some interest was stirred up. As one who had never come to Russia, some explanations concerning the Sverdlovsk region economy development was informative. But what was very interesting was the mindset which was displayed, optimism and faith in the future shown in an uncontrived way was indeed refreshing. Desire to forge strong and durable friendship, a necessity to the Russian economy, was well conveyed. Even if an electronics student could have been bored of a meeting where he didn't find connection with his actual field, the fact that it helped understanding the Russian vision made it worthwhile.»
