UrFU has developed a unique intellectual laboratory of energetics

The unique intellectual laboratory "Automated systems of power supply for enterprises" has been opened in Verkhnyaya Pyshma

The new project is a part of the program "Ural Engineering School", which is implemented within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Government of the Sverdlovsk region and OOO "UMMC-Holding".

The developer of the laboratory is Ural Federal University. The experts of UMMC provided technical information, developed training cases and have helped to create more than a hundred laboratory works. The cost of the laboratory is about 22 million rubles.

The laboratory consists of two main modules: a virtual module, which simulates the functioning of real sources of power generation in the software environment, and a stand module, which makes it possible to control generation and distribution of produced electricity (5 laboratory stands). Thus, it is possible to simulate the power system of the enterprise or its separate parts. The complex allows almost unlimited increasing of the quantity and complexity of the operations; it is also possible to add new physical objects for study.

Not only the students of different educational institutions of the Sverdlovsk region will be able to pass training at the laboratory, but also the specialists of energy services enterprises of the Ural region. They will be able to work remotely on virtual simulators and train normal work modes and emergency situations.

According to the Director of UrFU Power Engineering Institute, Sergey Sarapulov, one of the unique distinguishing features of the laboratory is the possibility of remote access.

The rector of Ural Federal University, Victor Koksharov, underlined that the new laboratory is the result of collaboration between the University of Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company.

"All laboratory works, which will be carried out in the new laboratory, are based on real situations that arise in the energy infrastructure of UMMC. This is a brilliant example of our intellectual potential," - said the rector.
