COVID-19 Containment
Actual Information on hotlines:
From the second semester of 2020-21 (starts on February 15, 2021) the university comes back to offline. Almost every month starting from late December 2020 we receive 500 vaccines. Only lectures with more than 75 in attendance are held online. Still, we are prescribed to instruct you about special Covid safety measures.
Everyone must wear a mask and sanitize hands. It is very important!
Going back to Russia
According to the requirements of Rospotrebnazdor, arrival and admission of international students from abroad of the Russian Federation has been amended, as well as the procedure for interaction between universities and foreign students. At the moment, foreign students can arrive in the Russian Federation from 26 states with which air traffic is open, and only by air travel.
The list of countries for which air communication with Russia is open: the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus, the United Kingdom, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Cuba, the Maldives, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Serbia, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Turkey, the Swiss Confederation, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Republic of Korea, Japan, Qatar, Republic of Finland, Republic of India, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
We remind you that a foreign student must inform the Ural Federal University about his arrival by filling out a special arrival form on the website: urfu.ru/en/international/information-for-prospective-international-students/application-information/arrival-form/). A foreign student, according to the instructions of Rospotrebnazdor and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, must provide a certificate of a negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 by PCR. A certificate of a negative coronavirus test must be issued no later than 3 days before arrival. The results of a negative test for SARS-CoV-2 by PCR can be provided in Russian or in English.
Upon arrival in Russia (in Moscow, in Yekaterinburg, etc.), a foreign student is required to pass another test for SARS-CoV-2 using the PCR method. Only in the case of a negative result for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a student can start full-time studies. The student must pass the test within 3 days upon arrival in Russia. Until a second negative test result is obtained, the student must be in self-isolation.
Opportunities for going through isolation in Yekaterinburg:
The Center for Adaptation of Foreign Students of UrFU encourages you to take a responsible approach to isolation. Recorded isolation violations, depending on their number, may result in a warning and even expulsion of a foreign student from the university.
Foreign students already in Russia can independently take the SARS-CoV-2 test using the PCR method at any time, and after receiving a negative analysis, start their studies in full-time format.
We remind you of the need for an advance warning of the Ural Federal University (Center for Adaptation of Foreign Students) 10 days before arrival about your arrival. When processing documents at the Center for Adaptation of Foreign Students, you can issue a medical insurance policy, which includes the cost of the SARS-CoV-2 test. If you have already bought tickets and are going to fly to us, please fill out the arrival form and take the SARS-CoV-2 test!
Rector on Distance Learning
For us, this situation is a serious challenge. All 36,100 students of UrFU have now been transferred to distance learning. It’s a long time since digitalization processes have been introduced at the university, we are actively engaged in the creation of learning management systems, online courses, electronic educational resources, but it cannot be said that all materials for all courses were fully prepared for remote work. The transition to a new training format on such a large scale does not happen in one click – this is a stressful process, but so far everything is going well.
Besides, the international research and methodological center of the Ural Federal University, which provides courses for teachers of other universities, has switched to the remote work format. Thus all interested teachers can take distance training in these fields at our university.
Visas and Migration Issues
On April 18, Vladimir Putin signed a Presidential Executive Order that freezes visa expiry dates for foreign citizens legally residing, or working in Russia. Visas and migration cards get expiry permit waivers from March 15 until further regulation. Read full announcement: urfu.ru/en/news/31593/
