This Time to Thailand: UrFU Names Student of the Year

Second-year student of UrFU Power-Engineering Institute Gleb Deryabin is going to Srinakharinwirot University

This year the grand prize of the "Student of the Year" award and the internship at Srinakharinwirot University (Bangkok, Thailand) went to the winner of the "Best in Media" nomination Gleb Deryabin, 2^nd year student of UrFU Power-Engineering Institute. The final stage of the event took place on December, 20 in Yeltsin Center, where the winners in 11 nominations, such as “International Student of the Year”, “Volunteer of the Year”, “Best in Sports”, etc. were announced.

“For me receiving this award means that the University recognizes my merits and everything that I achieved in the last year working at the student editorial board. It is always pleasant when your work is recognized”, says Gleb Deryabin. “Such a high title as the Student of the Year is so motivating, and now it feels like I can do anything! I want to continue working for the benefit of the University and students.”

The participants made a long way before they reached the final. For the last three months, they have been attending workshops on oratorical skills, time management and personal image and preparing their own projects aimed at development of the University in their nominations.

Last year the grand prize was given to the winners in nominations “Best in Media” and “Best Student Leader” – Ekaterina Agafonova (Power-Engineering Institute) and Mikhail Kochnev (Institute of Physics and Technology).

The "Student of the Year" award was established in UrFU by the Student Union with the support of the Partnership Development Center. This year, 232 students submitted their applications, 79 of them passed to the semi-final and only 33 applicants made it to the final.

The organizers of the award would like to say thank you for the support of the event to Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant, PJSC SKB-Bank, PJSC CB “Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development”, PJSC Vympelcom, PWC, Lingualeo and “Bus 1”, as well as “Uspensky” Shopping Mall and "Zhemchugov" Fashion House.
