The University Student Became the World Champion in Ice Climbing Among Juniors

Diana Galimova was 1.5 seconds faster than her closest opponent in the “speed” event

Among 70 junior athletes from 10 countries, the best in the “speed” event became the student of Ural Federal University Diana Galimova. She won a gold medal in junior ice climbing World Championship held in Liechtenstein. Diana was a representative of the Russian national team, which took first place in the team competition. The first adult competition for Diana will be the World Cup in February in Kirov and after that the Russian Ice Climbing Championships. 

‘To prepare for the competition, you need to train “24 hours a day”. It`s very difficult to combine training and studying, but I have already understood how to divide my time to manage everything. I have been climbing since I was 12 years old. I loved climbing trees and roofs since childhood, so this is my kind of sport. I started ice climbing three years ago. It`s a little more difficult, you constantly need to workout on your muscles and there is a special technique to pass the track. I like it’, said Diana.
