International Educational Course “Internet of Things” took place at UrFU

Students of technical universities of Europe successfully completed the international educational course

The international educational course Internet of Things, organized by the student organization BEST Ekaterinburg UrFU has come to the end. More than 20 foreign students from Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Sweden and Turkey learned everything about the concept of the Internet of things from the lecturers of UrFU Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies.

‘The goal of the program was to provide the students with the basic knowledge on the subject of "Internet of Things", broaden their horizons, apply theory in practice, work on projects in groups,’ - commented the representative of the student organization BEST Ekaterinburg UrFU Victoria Nikiforova. ‘We also showed foreign students Ekaterinburg, Russia. They found new friends, could share experiences of the cultural background. Perhaps, some of them will want to come to UrFU, to get their Master’s degree. We showed how you can live and study here.' 

The ten-day course allowed students to understand the IoT technology in detail and to examine its main components. The lectures covered business and social problems, development, issues of collecting, processing and visualization of generated data, connection to the network of IoT devices interacting with the physical world. In addition to the lectures, the students participated in a master class, creative session, and engaged in project activities within the framework of the "Smart House" concept.

The educational program in English was conducted by staff of UrFU Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies. The lecture "The Internet of Things as a Mean of Digital Transformation for the Public Sector and Industry" was read by Lev Levin (Director, IoT Market Development) at the Cisco Innovation Center through the Cisco TelePresence video communication system. In addition to the educational part, international guests visited the sights of the city; the support was provided by the Mayor of Ekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman.
