University Entered The Prestigious World Ranking

The university demonstrates excellent indicators of graduates' relations with employers and internationalization

Ural Federal University was included in the group of 251-300 rankings of universities in developing countries. Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018.

According to the rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov, interaction with the real sector of the economy allows the university to improve positions in international ratings.

‘Active participation in competitions for grants and federal targeted programs and systematic interaction with enterprises have great importance,’ assured the rector. ‘At the same time, the number of our academic partners throughout the world is steadily growing: we are increasing the number of joint publications with foreign researchers by 20-30% annually.’

Vice-rector for Science Vladimir Kruzhaev adds that the university plans to continue to attract foreign post-graduate students and researchers; this year their number will exceed 150 and 30, respectively.

Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018 review institutions from 50 countries classified by the Financial Times as countries with developing economies. The final list of the rating includes 378 organizations from 42 countries. The ranking uses the same 13 rigorous performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, examining each university’s strengths against all of its core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The methodology has been carefully calibrated to better reflect the characteristics and development priorities of universities in emerging economies. For example, more weight is given to a university’s industry links and international outlook.
