Competencies of UrFU in Design of Substations Acknowledged at Federal Level

Sergey Kokin and Stepan Dmitriev became winners in the competition of manuscripts in educational, scientific, technical and reference literature

Representatives of Ural Power Engineering Institute Sergey Kokin and Stepan Dmitriev became winners of the All-Russian competition of manuscripts in educational, scientific, technical and reference literature on power engineering for their work on designing substations for distribution grid companies.

The award ceremony took place at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum at the stand of ROSSETI. The diploma for the first place was awarded to Sergey Kokin, Deputy Director of Science and Innovations of Ural Power Engineering Institute and head of the “MRSK Ural” academic department at UrFU by Deputy Director General of ROSSETI Olga Sergeeva and Rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute Nikolay Rogalev.

As noted by Olga Sergeeva, the published scientific works of the winners will help to prepare students who will later work in the electric grid companies of Russia.

“ROSSETI cooperates with Russian leading technical universities on an ongoing basis. Nowadays this cooperation is very important, since power engineers are facing the task of switching to digital work technologies”, she said.

All-Russian competition of manuscripts took place in 2017-2018. The list of its organizers included ROSSETI and MPEI with the support and participation of Federal Educational and Methodological Association for “Electric and Heat Power Engineering” group of majors. Works of the winners were published in a special collection.

“MRSK Ural” and Ural Federal University are holding long-term cooperation in various areas. Thus, under the joint initiative and with the support of “MRSK Ural” the enterprise-based Academic Department of Power Engineering successfully functions at UrFU, where students are taught in two areas, “Relay Protection and Automation” and “Electrical Networks”. Besides, the team of Ural Power Engineering Institute and specialists of “MRSK Ural” are working on a number of research and design projects aimed at development of energy systems in the Urals. Annually, UrFU students of power engineering undergo an internship in the subdivisions of the company.
