In the Top 200: UrFU Enters Prestigious Global Ranking

The University is now in the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

Ural Federal University has entered the top 200 of the world’s best universities in Metallurgy according to the 2018 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

The University’s administration is sure that the key role in the success was played by its participation in the Project 5-100, aimed at entering the world academic elite.

“It is an impressive result”, says UrFU Rector Victor Koksharov. “The University collaborates with the leading Russian and international metallurgical enterprises, such as TMK, RCC, UMMC, VSMPO-AVISMA, Boeing and many others. UrFU’s research in this area is well known around the world. Scientific schools are headed by recognized leaders, who receive grants under the Government’s Decree 218 and Federal Target Programs, as well as grants of the Russian Science Foundation”.

The Rector also pointed out that there is more room for growth in the subject ranking: the collaboration with colleagues from all over the world still continues. For instance, metallurgy is one of the fields of work for the currently developed BRICS Center for Materials Science and Nanotechnologies.
