Victor Koksharov Included into Universiade 2023 Bid Campaign Organizing Committee

An organizing committee for the implementation of the bid campaign for the right to host the XXXII World Summer Universiade 2023 in Ekaterinburg has been created – the governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev signed the order to this effect.

According to the region’s Information Policy Department, the organizing committee consists of 34 people. Besides the UrFU Rector Victor Koksharov, among them are the Acting Director of the UrFU Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy Evgeny Shurmanov, the Mayor of Ekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky, the Sverdlovsk region’s Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Leonid Rapoport. The deputy governor Alexey Orlov will coordinate the committee’s work.

The plan for the bid campaign implementation will be developed by the Ministry of Physical Education and Sports of the Sverdlovsk region. The Sverdlovsk region delegation will visit the working meeting of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in Lausanne, where it is planned to discuss recommendations on the work of the application committee, as early as on April 8.

The final meeting of the FISU Executive Committee will be held in Naples in July, where the host city of the student games will be announced. Before this, in June, the Sverdlovsk region should submit its Bid Book for the Universiade to the International University Sports Federation.
