UrFU Lecturers Told Croatian Students about Russian Media and Entrepreneurship

Elizaveta Golousova and Sergey Polbitsyn gave lectures at the University of Zagreb

Elizaveta Golousova, Associate Professor at the Ural Institute of Humanities’ Academic Department of Periodical Press and Network Publications, and Sergey Polbitsyn, Professor at the Institute of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship’s Academic Department of Regional Economics, Innovation Entrepreneurship and Security, each gave a series of lectures at the University of Zagreb. UrFU staff visited Croatia under the Erasmus Teaching Mobility program.

‘I was glad that almost from the first minute of our communication it was possible to establish contact with these people. Croatian students asked a lot of questions, they were interested in everything: from sports to politics,’ Elizaveta Golousova says. ‘Of course, we couldn’t do without debunking the myths about our country. For many Europeans, modern Russia is associated with the Soviet era. At the same time, it should be noted that interest in our culture is growing. Students and teachers are willing to come to Russia, to take part in joint research projects.’

UrFU professors discussed opportunities for cooperation with colleagues at the University of Zagreb. For instance, Elizaveta Golousova outlined the options for preparing joint scientific publications with Zrinjka Peruško, the specialist in the field of media galleries and lecturer at the Faculty of Political Science. Sergey Polbitsyn talked to an expert in the field of rural development Professor Domagoj Hruška.

‘We talked about preparing joint publications in order to reach the level of applying for grants,’ Prof. Polbitsyn explains. ‘Another Zagreb colleague, Professor Marijan Cingula, discussed the idea of holding a scientific conference with the participation of UrFU and further indexing the event in Web of Science.’

The University of Zagreb is one of the oldest educational institutions in Croatia (founded in 1669) and the largest educational center in South-Eastern Europe. Today, the university has about 77 thousand students, almost half of whom came from other countries on exchange programs.
