Watching the Music: Vienna Music Film Festival Starts with Live Performance

Janoska Ensemble (Vienna) gave a concert on the university square

Yesterday Ekaterinburg citizens gathered on the square in front of Ural Federal University to enjoy the performance of Janoska Ensemble (Vienna). The concert opened the Vienna Music Film Festival.

The musicians presented a 90-minute program organically comprising Bach, Rachmaninov, Strauss, Mozart and John Lennon.

The Vienna Festival is taking place in Ekaterinburg for the 10th time and will last for 25 days. Today, the audience will enjoy “Macbeth” with Plácido Domingo and Anna Netrebko on a huge screen (start at 20:00).

On the following days, the screen will show concerts by the Mikhailovsky Symphony Orchestra, Elton John, Omega rock band, New year concert by the Vienna Philarmonic Orchestra, and Europe’s best musicals, including The Nutcracker, Wonderful Town, Cinderella, Carmina Burana and others.

Finishing the Festival will be a DJ-parade with DJs Dasha Malygina and Petr Prokhorov. They will turn the university square into a dancefloor on July 27.

Ural Federal University is one of the leading universities in Russia founded in 1920. UrFU is located in Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Ural region, an economic, industrial, scientific and cultural center of Russia. The university is the project office of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials" designed for solving tasks of "Science" National Project.
