Heads of diplomatic missions commended the preparations for The World Boxing Championship

The head of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy held a meeting with the Deputy Consul of Great Britain

World Boxing Championship in Ekaterinburg has already received a broad international appeal: representatives of diplomatic missions working in the Urals capital stand ready to provide the necessary support and assistance.

“I would like to note the high standands of preparation for the event,” said Deputy Consul General of Great Britain in Ekaterinburg Judy Omasan Kpogho. “On behalf of the Consulate, we are ready to provide all the necessary support.”

The authorized representative of the diplomatic mission visited the University yesterday to meet the head of the Preparatory Committee, Evgeny Shurmanov, Acting Director of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of UrFU, and Mikhail Kaigorodov, Advisor to the Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of Russia on social projects. The University officials shared with Mrs. Kpogho most up-to-date information about the event program for the teams of England, Scotland, and Wales.

It should be reminded that the World Boxing Championship, to be held in Ekaterinburg from September 8 to 21, will be officially represented by a graduate of the Ural State Technical University-UPI (now UrFU), the Olympic champion boxer Egor Mekhontsev.

88 countries participating in the championship have announced their national teams so far, which makes it about 480 boxers from around the world expected in Ekaterinburg in September.

The Boxing World Cup 2019 in Ekaterinburg will take place under the supervision of the International Boxing Association AIBA, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Boxing Federation of Russia and the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region.
