Ural Federal Gets Into Rankings on Engineering for the First Time Ever

We consider cooperation with engineering companies to be the main cause of success

Times Higher Education (THE ) published results in 2019 Subject Rankings in the ‘Engineering & Technology’ Group. Ural Federal University got ranked there for the first time, falling into the 801+ group.

“UrFU traditionally pays great amount of attention to improving the quality of training of engineers. Together with enterprises, we are transforming the educational process, introducing formats of project training in fundamental Chairs, in applied bachelor and master programs,” says Rector Viktor Koksharov.

Among the five indicators of the rating are the educational environment of universities, the volume and reputation of specialized studies, citing publications, the development of international cooperation and industry revenue. According to the rector, UrFU is showing significant success in these areas.

“The university is increasing the volume of R&D for our partner enterprises, including hi-tech industry companies. This allows to attract funds from enterprises and the federal government, creating serious technological innovations with such enterprises as Semikhatov Science Production Association of Automation, Sverdlovsk Tools Plant, I-Teco, Rosatom,” the Rector adds.

THE published Subject Ranking of universities that sheds light on the positioning of educational programs and research in engineering, electrical and electronics, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering.
