Ural Federal Develops Collaboration With Science Centers in Spain

Two agreements were signed at the 4th Forum of Russian and Ibero-American Rectors and Presidents

Ural Federal will develop academic, scientific and cultural cooperation, as well as exchange programs with the University of Cordoba and the University of Seville (Spain). Following documents were signed by Viktor Koksharov at the IV Forum of Rectors and Presidents of Russian and Ibero-American Universities.

“The university is developing exchange programs with universities of Spain – in the past academic year, nine of our students took part in exchange programs, and another student is at the University of Seville right now. Over the past five years, university scientists have prepared 203 joint publications with Spanish colleagues, two employees from Spain work in the humanitarian and science institutes of the Ural Federal University,” sums up Rector Viktor Koksharov.

According to the Rector’s presentation, the university’s cooperation with science centers of Spain is actively developing in following domains: Physics and Astronomy, Materials Science, and Engineering. Organizing Engineering education program for the industry of the 4^th generation was the main core of Rector’s address at the panel discussion “Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer”.

“A key role in transforming engineering education is played by enterprise engagement. Employers become customers of new designs in models of project training and industrial hackathons, and organize special courses in narrow subject areas,” Rector concluded.

The IV Forum of Rectors and Presidents of Russian and Ibero-American Universities is attended by representatives of 24 leading universities of Russia and 43 universities of Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Honduras, Andorra, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Morocco, Venezuela. The Russian delegation was led by President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichy.
