Students discover ways of going abroad with Eugenia Saburova, Head Coordinator for Academic Mobility at the International Communitcations Department
On November 14, a meeting of students of the Ural Federal University with the Coordinator of Academic Mobility at the International Communitcations Department Evgenia Saburova and French students studying at UrFU took place. Eugenia spoke about current exchange programs that exist between universities in France, Belgium, the francophone part of Canada and UrFU.
There are several options for studying in foreign universities: scholarship programs, academic exchange programs and double degree study programs. A great feature of scholarship programs (for example, Erasmus +) is the applications competition. Program requires academic and research achievements of students, French or English abilities B2 or higher.
Academic exchange involves teaching students at a partner university for a certain period. At the same time, studying at a foreign university is free, the student retains a place at a Russian university, as well as, if available, a scholarship and other types of social support. In the host institution, as a rule, students are given a place in the hostel. In addition, there are training programs with a diploma of a partner university.
French students spoke about their learning experience at UrFU under an academic exchange program.
“At school I studied Russian as a foreign language, I came to Russia several times as a tourist, so I consciously chose this country to participate in the exchange program for higher education,” said Adrian Palumbo, student of the program World Economy and International Business. - I recommend giving preference to small cities, since the capital does not always allow you to make a complete impression of the country. That is why among the Russian cities I personally chose Yekaterinburg for training, and not Moscow or St. Petersburg.”
His compatriot, Soraya Bezombes-Philippe, who studies at the Ural Federal University under the exchange program in the direction of preparation History, agreed. She listed several advantages of small cities over the capital: lower prices, more open and friendly people, etc. Soraya also noted some features of the Russian educational system, in particular, the flexibility of the approach of teachers who are always ready to find the optimal solution to emerging problems.
The event is organized by the joint efforts of the Center of the French Language and Culture at Ural Federal University and the Center of International Student Mobility and Recruiting.
