Rector Koksharov headed the section at the Russian-Korean Rectors Forum

In Seoul, the participants of the VII Forum of Russian and Korean Rectors discussed the ways of enhancing cooperation between Russian and Korean universities in the field of science and technology. The Rector of the Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov moderated one of the sections of the forum.

“The Seoul Forum is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of inter-university contacts between Russia and Korea and the creation of a new paradigm of cooperation in the humanitarian, scientific and technical fields,” says the Head of UrFU. “We managed to discuss joint programs in the areas of mutual interests, academic exchange, programs of university technological parks and incubators, double-degree programs in Computer Science, Robotics, Bio-Technology, Optics and other fields.”

According to Victor Koksharov, UrFU is ready to help Korean universities to teach academic personnel, to participate in the exchange of teachers, scientists and students. The rector devoted part of his speech at the forum to present the university's input into the 2023 Summer Universiade. As it will end, UrFU will receive a new students village, as well as 3 academic buildings. In addition, the Korean side is discussing the possibility of organizing an international sports festival in Ekaterinburg in 2020, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Ural Federal University, with the participation of the university teams of Russia and Korea.

UrFU maintains contacts with 18 Korean universities. For just over 2 years 25 students participated in academic exchange programs, while 7 Korean students currently study at UrFU in the preparatory department and undergraduate programs. Together with scientists from Korean universities, researchers at UrFU have published 77 papers.
