UrFU Prepares to Host a Forum of Russian and Kyrgyz Rectors From Leading Universities of Both Countries

Kyrgyzstan's Consul General Biibosunov is ready to assist in preparations

Ruslan Biibosunov, the Consul General of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in Yekaterinburg, will support the upcoming Russian-Kyrgyz Forum of Rectors. He announced this at a meeting with the Rector Victor Koksharov. The sides plan the event for the fall of 2020, as the main building of UrFU will become the venue.

“We are ready to host a forum of rectors on the sidelines of the meeting of the heads of the two countries,” Victor Koksharov emphasized. “The university has extensive experience in conducting such events, we will be especially pleased to hold a meeting in the anniversary year.”

During the visit to UrFU, the Consul General also discussed with the rector the training of specialists for the needs of Kyrgyzstan. So, according to Biibosunov, there is potential for attracting students from the Asian republic to the leading Ural university. Among the attractive for youth of Kyrgyzstan economic and managerial areas of training, as well as energy, construction, engineering, metallurgy and information technology.

The fact that the next Russian-Kyrgyz interregional conference will be held in Yekaterinburg in 2020 was announced last March by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Over 200 events are planned for the Year of Kyrgyzstan in the Russian Federation and the Year of Russia in Kyrgyzstan. The opening ceremony of the cross year is expected to take place on February 27 at the State Kremlin Palace.

About the Partnership With Kyrgyzstan

Ural Federal University has partnerships with nine universities in Kyrgyzstan. 94 Kyrgyz students study at UrFU; Kyrgyz students community is established and functions in UrFU. In 2014, the Kyrgyz Association of Graduates of UPI, USU and UrFU opened its office in Bishkek, in 2015 established a Suymenkul Chokmorov Public Fund scholarship to support prominent UrFU students coming from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

Ural Federal University is one of the leading universities in Russia founded in 1920. UrFU is located in Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Ural region, an economic, industrial, scientific and cultural center of Russia. The university is the project office of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials" designed for solving tasks of "Science" National Project.
