Scientist From Grenoble Delivers a Lecture on Smart Power Industry

Dr. Raphael Caire from the Smart Grids Laboratory at the Grenoble Institute of Technology took part in online project of Ural Federal Unviersity

On August 20, a visionary lecture “Smart Power Industry. Actual projects in Europe” was held in Zoom within the framework of international scientific and methodological center lecturing campaign. The speaker was the world-renowned scientist Raphael Caire, PhD in Engineering and Head of the Smart Grids Laboratory at the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble, France).

Within two hours, Raphael Caire revealed the distributed generation impact on power systems, talked about distributed generation management and, on real European projects, demonstrated how the smart power industry is making a scientific and technological revolution here and now.

“This visionary lecture is a good case of international collaboration that sprang up and is developing within the current co-project “Establishing smart energy system curriculum at Russian and Vietnamese universities, ESSENCE”. The Ural Power Engineering Institute of the Ural Federal University has been participating in this project since 2017, and the master's program has already been introduced into the Ural Power Engineering Institute educational process since last year,”- Stanislav Eroshenko says, project manager at the Ural Federal University.

Also, thanks to the collaboration within the ESSENCE project and despite the pandemic, the Ural Power Engineering Institute of the Ural Federal University in tandem with the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble, France) submitted a joint grant proposal from the Russian Science Foundation in 2020, so we can say that interaction within the educational process boosted to scientific cooperation between universities.

The program for undergraduates in energy has been created in three languages and meets the requirements of the Bologna Process and the European Qualifications Framework. It is dedicated to such a global economy trend as smart energy power systems, which integrate present-day developments in energy and IT.
