Masks, thermal imagers, and antiseptic gels is the new norm for ordinary life as we reopen academic buildings and student hostels

The staff of the Ural Federal University are completing preparations for the new academic year. The traditional Day One holiday will be held online, freshmen will receive reusable masks as a gift, and new thermal imagers and antiseptics have appeared at the entrances to educational buildings and hostels.

“The university has been preparing for the return of students for a long time, all sites are equipped taking into account the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor. The academic year will begin in a mixed format: practical classes and seminars will be held in educational buildings, and streaming lectures will be transferred to the online format,” said the rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov.

To take care of health at the entrances to educational buildings and dormitories, 31 thermal imagers are installed, as well as automatic dispensers-disinfectors. By the start of the school year, general cleaning of the premises with disinfectants was carried out. From September 1, wet cleaning of all classrooms and laboratories will be provided three times a day: in the morning, during a long break and after the end of classes.

The university has formed a stockage of disposable masks: 50 thousand items have already been purchased, and by October their number will reach half a million. The university also purchased 10.5 thousand reusable masks in the style of the 100th anniversary of UrFU, freshmen of 2020 will receive them in gift sets.

On September 1, university students will take part in the online holiday "First Day in the Urals Federal". In the group of the project on the VKontakte site, freshmen are waiting for a video podcast about their studies and life at the university, as well as a fair of student opportunities, contests and sweepstakes in an interactive application on the VK Mini App platform.
