The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ural Federal University Dmitry Pumpyansky and the rector of the university Viktor Koksharov congratulated students, teachers and employees of the Ural Federal University on the Day of Knowledge.

“Congratulations to students, especially freshmen, on September 1. I would also like to thank those who organized the admissions campaign and did it brilliantly - the employees of Russian universities. I congratulate teachers, veterans, professors, associate professors, academicians - everyone who is involved in the educational process and transfers knowledge and experience. I want this academic year to be traditional, and we have finally finished these tests,” said Minister Valery Falkov.

In turn, Dmitry Pumpyansky drew attention to the fact that this time the beginning of the academic year at the university will be unusual not only for those who cross its threshold for the first time: absolutely everyone will start working in new conditions for themselves.

“The current situation did not allow us to organize a large-scale holiday in honor of the Day of Knowledge and personally greet freshmen. But in spite of everything, the academic year 2020/21 at UrFU will begin, and I am sure that it will be interesting, eventful, and effective, ”stressed the head of the Supervisory Board. - Our university will continue to fulfill the most important state tasks, giving special priority to building up the scientific, educational and innovative potential of the university. The competencies of UrFU in the implementation of advanced scientific developments and the training of qualified personnel for the industry are in demand today more than ever. It is also extremely important for the University to continue to develop at the international level - to attract foreign students, scientists, interact with leading Russian and foreign scientific and educational organizations."

Dmitry Pumpyansky added that this year the university is facing another ambitious task - the creation of a world-class Ural Interregional Research Education Center, which is planned to be formed on the basis of the leading Ural universities and high-tech companies.

“The Supervisory Board and the Administration have been bringing UrFU to the leading positions in the most authoritative ratings, both Russian and international, and we are getting closer and closer to achieving this goal. I am sure that in the jubilee year, in the year of the 100th anniversary of the university, we will together make a great contribution to its further development and prosperity, - Dmitry Pumpyansky emphasized. - Let the new academic year be bright, fruitful and successful. With all my heart I wish the students, graduate students, teachers and employees of UrFU success in work and study, new discoveries, good health, energy and optimism!"

In his congratulations, Rector Koksharov noted that the beginning of a new academic year is always associated with new hopes, aspirations, plans.

“On this day, I would like to wish that all your expectations come true,” said the rector. - This time we all waited for the beginning of the school year with special trepidation. The university is gradually returning to its usual life. We are starting this year in a blended learning format with special health requirements. This will make the work of the university as safe, convenient and efficient as possible in the conditions in which Russia and the whole world are now.

In the year of the 100th anniversary of the university, I wish the students an interesting study, bright lectures and, of course, good friends who will be with them for the next few years, and perhaps the whole life. But the main thing is still study. Remember that your future and the future of our entire country depends on your desire for knowledge, perseverance, patience and perseverance."

For teachers, the Day of Knowledge is also of particular importance, added Victor Koksharov.
