President Vladimir Putin congratulated the faculty, graduate students, students and graduates of the Ural Federal University on the centenary of the university.

“UrFU is one of the largest, respected domestic universities, a recognized educational, scientific and educational center. Talented, dedicated educators and researchers have always worked here. They taught me to think creatively, freely and brightly,” said Vladimir Putin.

The President wished the university staff success in their multifaceted activities, and excellent results in the comprehension of sciences to students and postgraduates.

“It is gratifying that today the university follows the strong traditions laid down by its predecessors, the principles of the continuity of generations, carefully preserves the spirit of creativity and student fraternity. Combines the best, time-tested teaching methods with the most modern technology. All this allows the graduates of UrFU to look confidently into the future,” Putin's address says.

The university was also congratulated by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Germany and the Czech Republic Nursultan Nazarbayev, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Milos Zeman. All three are honorary doctors of the university.

The main events for the 100th anniversary of the Ural Federal University are held from October 19 to 23. A number of anniversary exhibitions have been opened in Yekaterinburg, special postal envelopes, books and a collection of photographs have been issued. Outstanding teachers and staff of the university received medals for the 100th anniversary of UrFU. The key events on the evening of October 23 will be the intellectual show of Leonid Parfenov and the online round dance of the UrFU Students' Union.
