16 Scientists from the University Will Receive Grants and Scholarships from the President of the Russian Federation

Studies in chemistry, physics, history, and materials science are supported

Sixteen researchers from Ural Federal University became winners of the President of the Russian Federation - 2022 contests. Four researchers will receive grants under the Young Scientists Program, three applicants will receive funding under the Program to Support Leading Scientific Schools, and nine employees became scholarship awardees. A total of 65 applications were submitted from the university: 13 for grants for young scientists, 4 from research groups, and 48 for scholarships.

State support will be provided for research on crystallization, creation of a test system for determining antioxidant status, development of technology for the production of medical scandium radioisotopes, creation of a new class of medical diagnostic equipment, diagnosis of arterial stenosis, etc.

"Based on the data of invasive coronary angiography, we developed a three-dimensional geometric model of the arterial section with stenosis. Using the data on pressure pulsation at the inlet to the studied section of the artery, we performed hemodynamic modeling and obtained blood flow results for the full cardiocycle. These results showed that a low-velocity vortex flow is formed behind the stenosis, as well as an area of high-viscosity blood, where viscosity increases by up to two times," Ilya Starodumov, a junior researcher of the Ural Federal University Laboratory of Multi-Scale Mathematical Modeling, previously described the essence of the project as one of the competition winners.
