Ural Federal University entered THE Ranking for the first time and holds the position in the group"600+"

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking takes into account the successful involvement of external financing with the help of large projects. Since many research projects are implemented in collaboration with the companies, university was praised in terms of the amount of funding received from the industry. The university is participating in the program on enhancement of global competitiveness of theRussian universities, thus it also influence the competitiveness of the industry of the Ural region. According to the Rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov, all these factors allow university to expect a gradual improvement of the positions in the future.

"The influence of scientists of Ural Federal University on the development of science in specific areas improved by 39% due to the increase of citing - said the rector of Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov. - At the same time self-citation, citation of university scientists by the colleagues from the same institution, has been significantly reduced , and it resulted in increasing the number of research projects with leading global educational and research centers.”

We would like to remind that this year Ural Federal University moved from the group with a high intensity of research “High” to the group with “Very High” intensity of research in the QS World University Rankings, which is the highest assessment of the scientific activities of the university.

International Ranking of World Universities Times Higher Education (or «THE World University Rankings») is one of the most influential and global. It is calculated by the method of the British newspaper «Times Higher Education» with the assistance of information group Thomson Reuters and published every year since 2010.
