The new structure will develop biomedicine, pharmacy and medical engineering of the region

The potential of Ural Federal University will be actively used in the work of the Ural Scientific and Educational Consortium of biomedicine, pharmacy and medical engineering. Agreement on the establishment of a consortium was signed in the residence of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region.

The key objective of the new consortium is to unite the efforts of educational institutions, research organizations and industrial enterprises for the development and production of innovative products, ensuring the preservation of life and health of people. Demographic situation, life expectancy and human capacity-building in the region depends on how successfully this problem will be resolved.

In addition to the Urals Federal University the consortium was also entered by the Ural State Medical University, five institutes of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, "Ural biomedical cluster" and scientific-practical medical centers "Regional Clinical Hospital №1» and "Bonum".

The Rector of Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov underlined that the main strategic advantage of a consortium is the focus on the results of enhancing global competitiveness through connections of medical science and practice with advanced engineering technologies and new materials.
