University library improves its online resources access indicators

The university took the 8th place as of year-end 2015, which is better than last year's figures by 5 positions

Ural Federal University Library took the 8th place in the ranking of 20 best performing universities in terms of working with e-library system named “University Library ONLINE”. Thus, for the year UrFU Library improved its performance and rose by five points: last year it took the 13th place.

The ranking took into account the indicators of more than 400 e-library subscribing institutions. The statistics included such details as the number of registered users, the number of students actively using the e-library system, volume of the content viewed, the number of books accesses, the amount of books read per student, and the average cost of one book a year for the university.

The authors of the ranking point out an increase in the use of e-library systems in higher educational institutions in 2015 compared with 2014. The whole reading volume for all users increased 1,65-fold, students’ reading volume – almost twofold. The number of students accessing the e-library from outside the university increased by half. The average percentage of students actively using e-libraries amounted to 37,6%. The average cost of one book in the e-library system was 231 rubles. The read depth increased by 25%, and the number of effective search requests for the university estimated to 30,000.
