Ural Biennale will start on September 10

The exhibition will be held in a new format this year

From September 10 till November 10, “Dom pechaty” (Lenina, 49) will be the venue of the performance platform of the 3rd Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art. The building of former printing plant will host series of performances staged specially for Biennial for demonstration in abandoned premises.

According to organizers the space of constructivism monuments dictates the shape and the content of each performance and becomes not only the scene of action but an authentic decoration.

The project is an alternative to the traditional academic theatre. This is a place for free creative experiments combining theatre and contemporary art. These performances offer viewers to break stereotypes of theatric action perception with strict borders between actors and spectaculars. The performances program covers 2000 square meters, the spectators will follow the actors getting deeper and deeper into the dramatic action and exploring the space of the former printing plant.

We would like to remind you that for the third time Ural Federal University became a strategic partner of Ural Industrial Biennale. Every biennale the university becomes an intellectual platform where the research events take place.

 “Ural Federal University offers great support and it is very important for us. The university is a strategic partner of the intellectual platform and this is what the Biennale started from in 2010. Biennael started not from the exhibition but from the research project,” - says the Head of National Centre for Contemporary Art and the Head Manager of Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art, Alisa Prudnikova. – Every year before the main exhibition we start series of research events, seminars, conferences, educational trips and UrFU helps us to organize them”.
