The development of engineering education and joint research with Australian universities will continue

Ural Federal University will continue to collaborate with the universities of Australia in a wide range of areas, first of all, educational programs for the training of engineers and joint scientific research in this field.

The representatives of the Australian Trade Commission - Senior Trade Commissioner and Chief Advisor to the Australian Embassy Duncan Cole and Honorary Consul and Senior Business Development Manager (Representation in Vladivostok) Vladimir Gorokhov visited Ural Federal University. The Rector Victor Koksharov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Sergey Knyazev, Vice-Rector for Economics and Strategic Development Daniil Sandler and Director of UrFU Graduate School of Engineering Oleg Rebrin, represented UrFU.

At the meeting, Duncan Cole noted that, in recent years, the Australian Trade Commission seriously expanded the scope of its responsibility - in addition to the development of trade, investment and tourism, the Commission also coordinates issues related to the development of international educational and scientific projects implemented by the universities and companies in Australia.

"We really appreciate the development of cooperation between Ural Federal University and Monash University, - said Duncan Cole. - We know that Ural Federal University has extensive experience and resources to train high quality engineering staff and we would like Australian universities, their students, lecturers and researchers to use this unique capability. We are interested in the exchange of students, academic staff and, of course, in the development of joint research activities."

At the end of the meeting Duncan Cole wished UrFU success in the implementation of the global competitiveness enhancement program and expressed readiness to contribute to the success of the university.

We would like to mention that in the period from February 29 to March 4, 2016, the representatives of the international service of Ural Federal University will participate in the annual conference and exhibition of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education APAIE-2016, which will take place in Melbourne. At the conference, experts of the project office 5-100 will hold a thematic session "National initiatives of academic excellence as the engine of international strategic cooperation development".
