The University will focus on Eurasian issues

The University and the Russian International Affairs Council resume the cooperation

Ural Federal University and the Russian International Affairs Council agreed to return to closer cooperation. The day before the meeting, the Rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov met with the RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov.

‘UrFU is one of our leading corporate partners,’ said Makhmutov. ‘Taking into account the success of the BRICS research center and the research of other scientific groups in UrFU we suggest to focus on the Eurasian issues and return to close interaction in academic and scientific projects.’

According to the Rector, staff of “Ural-Eurasia”, the expert center that is actively engaged in the subjects of Eurasian countries, will be able to help in cooperation.

The members of the RIAC will take part in the events of the III International Week “Building the bridge between continents” in the Plenary session “Challenges and Opportunities in Global Higher Education?”

The work of the RIAC coincides with what the University targets: development of internationalization, increase of global recognition and academic reputation. According to the Rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov, cooperation with the Council will allow the University to work on increasing of the global competitiveness of Russian Universities ("5-100") more effectively.

Among the most important statutory objectives of the RIAC are the conduct of research on issues of the foreign policy, improvement of the training of specialists in the field of international activity, and organization of interaction between Russian and foreign scientific organizations of international relations.

The first days of the RIAC were held in UrFU in 2012 at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (now the Ural Humanitarian Institute).
