The center of French language and culture was officially opened at the university

Ambassador of France to Russia visited the university and met UrFU students and researchers

Students and staff of Ural Federal University will study the culture of France and francophone countries in the newly established resource center. On October 7, 2014 Ambassador of France to Russia, Jean-Maurice Ripert,  and UrFU Rector, Victor Koksharov held the official opening ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by a lot of guests including students from France studying at UrFU. Pierre Bonnet came to Ekaterinburg from Rennes, he studies Russian history at UrFU. During the ceremony he mentioned that he is very happy that Russia and France are getting closer to each other.

Apart from attending the official ceremony Jean-Maurice Ripert also visited UrFU laboratory for studying primary sources where he met the university researchers and the Head of the laboratory, Professor Marie-Pierre Rey from Sorbonne.

UrFU Rector Victor Koksharov said: “There are no boundaries for education and science. When we open new knowledge for our students we make an important contribution to the future”.

Jean-Maurice Ripert noted that France is a country where research and technologies develop very dynamically and thanked all the participants for their interest to France and its culture”.
