UrFU is ready to continue participation in the program of enhancing competitiveness of Russian universities

The Supervisory Board of the University approved the roadmap of the project "5-100-2020"

According to the Rector of the University Victor Koksharov, the main result of the first phase of implementation of the program of competitiveness enhancement was the successful launch of the transformation process inside the university. First of all it concerns the scientific sphere. 72 competence centers in the key areas of researches were created in UrFU by 2015. 

"One of the most notable figures is a steady growth of publications in journals indexed by Web of Science and Scopus, - said the rector. - According to the number of works published within three years UrFU holds the 4th place among Russian universities and the 2nd place among the participants of the project "5-100" and the 1st place among federal universities."

UrFU has entered an era of technological modernization of the educational process. Students pass so-called module-education, in which the emphasis is on personal approach, construction of individual programs. The part of students' independent work is also increasing. As a result the teaching load of professor will reduce, so it will allow them to devote more time to scientific researches.

Ural Federal University plans to increase the pace of internationalization. Today, the university has about 1,100 students from 53 countries. In 5 years, the number of foreigners is expected to increase about 4 times.

UrFU is a recognized leader in the technology of open education. Under the leadership of the Urals Federal University the working group of representatives from 8 universities started work in order to establish national portal of open education. Also, the University formed 5 major innovative projects – centres of technological leadership.

With all these and other initiatives, the university leaders plan to speak at a meeting of the International Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, which will be held in late March in Tomsk. Successful defense of the roadmap project will allow UrFU to receive 800 million rubles annually the further development.
