Building the Bridge between Continents

Representatives of 19 universities from 13 countries have visited university in order to establish cooperation and share their experience.

The 2nd International week at Ural Federal University came to an end. The main program of the event started on June 16 with the plenary session "Together to Global Academia". During the meeting, representatives of 19 universities from 13 countries: Mexico, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany, China, Malaysia, the USA, Poland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, Italy and Thailand,  introduced their universities and defined the direction of strategic development of international cooperation.  

"During the several days we will have the discussions, the round tables, the meetings with the representatives from different universities, some of them are already our partners, with some of them we haven't had any contracts with yet," - said the Vice-rector for International Relations of UrFU Maxim Khomyakov. According to Maxim Khomyakov, one of the aims of the International Week was also to give more information about international educational opportunities to UrFU students. That is why the program of the International Week included an educational exhibition, which took place on Wednesday, June 17.  More than 600 people came to visit the exhibition. They could receive actual information about educational programs of foreign universities, consult UrFU coordinators for academic mobility and apply for the exchange programs.

According to the representative of the University of Monterrey (Mexico) Laura Pedraza today it is much easier to go to study abroad: "When I was a student, I was one of the first persons who went to study in the USA. Then it was unusual. Today to go to study in the other country is much easier - the students are helped and this is very good".

On Thursday, June 18, the participants gathered for round-table discussions. They shared their experience in academic exchanges and other topical issues of internationalizations. On Thursday the agreements on cooperation in scientific and educational spheres with Universidad Internacional Mexico and "Kyrgyzaltyn", the largest company of the Kyrgyz Republic specializing in development of gold deposits have also been signed. 

"The visit of the representatives of 13 countries is very important for the university. We aim to establish the international relations in the educational sphere and to be one of the leading high educational institution of the country and the world, which provides education on the highest international level", -  said Victor Koksharov.
