Ekaterinburg will host the first Science Slam at UrFU

The Ural Federal University will host the first UrFU Science Slam. This is one of the UrFU Science Days events, which will take place on February 11 at 18:30 in the Assembly Hall at Mira, 19. Five young scientists will talk about their research. The task of each is to present their work in such a way that it is understandable to the audience.

Five young scientists of the university will compete for the title of champion of the UrFU Science Slam. Galymzhan Mukanov, postgraduate student at the Institute of New Materials and Technologies, will talk about digital twins: from skeleton to locomotive. Vladislav Ivshin, assistant researcher at the Department of Russian History of the Ural Institute of Humanities, will talk about the past. Kirill Grzhegorzhevsky, senior researcher of the Research Institute of Physics and Applied Mathematics of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will speak about large molecules. Mikhail Bolkov, a senior researcher at the Institute of Immunology and Physiology, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a senior researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering, Ural Federal University, will uncover the mysteries of bioethics. Anna Gurarii, Associate Professor of Applied Sociology at the Ural Institute of Humanities, will talk about the humanities skills that technicians can not do without.

The founder of Science Slam is Gregor Büning, a German aide to a member of the Bundestag. In 2010, he organized a party at which scientists spoke at a bar about their research topics. Over time, Science Slam began to be held in other German cities, and it became a movement. Now Science Slam is held in many Russian cities.
