Andrey Poltavets, the Vice-Rector of Ural Federal University for Information Technologies, celebrates his 62nd birthday. Colleagues congratulate him, among them is Dmitry Bugrov, First Vice-Rector of Ural Federal University.

Andrey Poltavets was born in Sverdlovsk. In 1982 he graduated with honors from the physics department of the Ural State University (now Ural Federal University). In 1985 he defended his PhD thesis in physics and mathematics.

During the 1990s, he was one of the initiators in implementing computer technology into the educational process at Ural State University, organizing a university-wide grant competition for the development of electronic educational and methodological packages, seminars for local teachers on using the Internet in the classroom, and a number of other similar activities. In 2010, he was awarded the badge "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education". Since 2015 he has been the Vice-Rector of UrFU.
