UrFU’s Rector Awarded a Second-class Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland

Victor Koksharov received the award for his merits in developing science and education, training of highly-qualified professionals and long, responsible work.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin has awarded Victor Koksharov, Rector of Ural Federal University, a Second-class Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland. This has been viewed as recognition of the merits of the Rector, his team and the whole University. The document was published on the Legal Information Portal, http://pravo.gov.ru/.

According to the decree, Victor Koksharov received the award for his merits in developing science and education, training of highly-qualified professionals and long, responsible work.

“We’ve been to almost every corner of the world with him – first in his position of a representative of the External Economic Relations Department, then Minister and Chairman of the region’s Government – in order to acquaint other countries with the region”, says Eduard Rossel, the ex-Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Honorable Doctor of UrFU, senator. “Mr. Koksharov speaks English and German fluently, and always gets to the core of every problem. He is a very decent, fair, polite and peaceful man, who always gets on well with his colleagues and subordinates; at the same time, his work has never given any reason for criticism. Due, among other things, to his effort, the majority of other countries’ embassies opened in Ekaterinburg, and the region was recognized at the global stage”.

Victor Koksharov, graduate of Ural State University (now UrFU), has been Rector of Ural Federal University since 2010. Before this, he was the Chairman of the Government of the Sverdlovsk region.
