The junior researcher of the university suggested building a power station in outer space

A joint project of Ismail and a group of students was highly evaluated by the head of Rosatom State Corporation

The project "Available Cosmic Energy of the Future" was recognized as the best at the World Festival of Youth and Students 2017. The general director of the state corporation "Rosatom" Alexey Likhachev was impressed by the joint work of UrFU post-graduate student Ismail Hossain and the group of students-participants of the WFYS. According to Ismail, the project aims to change the picture of future energy for the benefit of the world population and avoid global energy crisis.

"It is necessary to reduce the extraction of toxic substances and the concept of the greenhouse effect, to create new sources of sustainable energy. It is necessary to build a solar power station in outer space and transfer the received energy to the Earth with the help of a directed laser beam," said Ismail Hossain, a junior researcher of UrFU Department of Nuclear Power Plants and Renewable Energy Sources. 

According to Ismail, this will not only solve the problem of the ever-growing demand for electricity in major cities, but also provide energy saving in remote areas without building and maintaining electrical networks.

The project became the best among 300 projects of other teams participating in the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students, which was held in Sochi on October 15 - 21, 2017.
